Drone Programming with Python
In Drone Programming, students use Python programming language to create codes to operate a UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System). Python is a general-purpose programming language that is becoming more and more popular in robotics, data manipulation, and AI (Artificial Intelligence). Companies like Amazon are using Python to manage their inventory and get a competitive edge. Unlike any other Python tutorial, this course focuses on Python specifically for Robotics. In our Python Programming class, students will learn about the powerful ways to build and control Robots as well as cool AI tools to create Robots.
This class runs on SATURDAYS from 3 pm – 4:15 pm.
Students learn the following lessons
- Variables: Students will learn to create their first variables and acquaint themselves with Python’s basic data types.
- Lists: Students will learn to store, access and manipulate data in lists: the first step towards efficiently working with huge amounts of data.
- Functions and Packages: To leverage the code that brilliant Python developers have written, students will learn about using functions, methods and packages. This will help them to reduce the amount of code they need to solve challenging problems!
Rich Computer Language Activities for vocabulary
Classes are held on Saturdays and run for 1 hour 15 mins plus an additional 1 Hour of Code during the weekday, making a total of 2 hours 15 mins workload per week. Students are free to come in on any of the days assigned to make up their hour of code. Please see timetable for schedule of regular classes and hour of code.
Reading Skills
Students learn to read code in the form of visual language and this helps to improve their reading skills overall.
Writing Skills
Every activity is designed to empower students with the confidence to not only write code but general English writing and also pitching their ideas to others.
